JULY 6th: Ossett may get a railway station if the newly promised spending for public transport goes ahead. For more than two years Ossett Civic Trust has been lobbying for a station in Ossett on the line from Kirkgate to Mirfield. Ossett is one of 40 sites proposed for new park and ride stations by the Association of Train Operating Companies. If spending is granted then the new rail links would be built over five to ten years.

JULY 6th: We are pleased to report that pressure from Ossett Civic Trust and other groups has persuaded Highways Department to lessen the dangers to pedestrians and cars created by the recent traffic calming measures along The Green. Highways have confirmed that nine amendments are to be made to the measures and Horbury Road will also be re-surfaced. We support measures where necessary to improve road safety.
